Most bars and pubs in St. Helier are in walking distance of the Royal Square. There are also a number of bars on the newly developed- and locally despised- Waterfront area.
However, if your idea of a good night out doesn't involve overpriced drinks, fast food joints and 'theme' bars, our guide will steer you in the right direction:
BOHEMIA- On a Friday after 5pm this is the bar in St. Helier to see and be seen.OK, it's not 'cheap' but it's worth it!
CHAMBERS- Popular large bar near the Weighbridge with occasional live music.
LA BASTILLE TAVERNE- Wine bar in Queen Street popular with office workers on a Friday after work. Good food!
LAMPLIGHTER- Cosy real ale pub next to the Weighbridge.
PRINCE OF WALES- Poplular 'old style' pub at the side of the Central Market, pleasant al fresco seated area in the back.
AND:
Wildfires is a popular cocktails bar, the bars at The Royal Yacht get busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
Cock and Bottle in the Royal Square is a good place to people watch at lunchtime.
